Function

We use tag questions to check information we are not sure about or to confirm information that we are almost certain about.

Main verb be	You're Anita,  aren't you?	Victor and July aren't studying in the U.S.,  are they?
Simple tenses	James likes Italian food,  doesn't he?	You didn't lose your cell phone,  did you?
Modals	Sofi should call more often,  shouldn't she?	That can't be right,  can it?
Present perfect	You've just told him,  haven't you?	He hasn't been here before,  has he?
Past progressive	He was texting his ex-girlfriend again,  wasn't he?	Jessica wasn't applying for another job was she?
