FUNCIÓN

Las cláusulas relativas no definidas nos dan información adicional sobre un sustantivo. Ya sabemos a qué persona o cosa nos referimos. Las cláusulas relativas podrían eliminarse de la sentencia sin afectar el significado básico.

CLAUSULAS RELATIVAS NO DEFINIDAS

EJEMPLO

Están separados del resto de la oración por comas.
Solo puede poner después del sustantivo al que se refieren.
·     El museo de Charleston, que es el más antiguo de los EE. UU., Fue construido en 1773.
·     The Charleston museum, which is the oldest museum in the U.S., was built in 1773.




Solo puede usar a quién referir a las personas y a qué se refieren los lugares y las cosas.
A veces se puede usar para referirse a lugares.
·      Daniel Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter, now acts in the theater.
·      Daniel Radcliffe, que interpretó Harry Potter, ahora actúa en el teatro.

·      The college, which specializes in languages, is near New York City.
·      La universidad, que se especializa en idiomas, se encuentra cerca de la ciudad de Nueva York.

·      Seattle, where my parents live, is a very beautiful place.
·      Seattle, donde viven mis padres, es un lugar muy hermoso.
